Sunrise Engagement Session on Tybee Island
Tybee Island is one of the most beautiful locations near Savannah for an engagement session especially at sunrise. With quiet beaches, soft morning light, and uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean, it’s an ideal setting for couples who want a relaxed and natural engagement session.
For this engagement session at North Beach, we met before sunrise and were greeted with clear skies and a vibrant orange glow stretching across the horizon. As the sun rose over the water, the beach was nearly empty, giving us plenty of space to explore the shoreline and capture the morning as it unfolded.
Why North Beach is One of the Best Locations for Engagement Photos on Tybee Island
Located on the northern end of the island, North Beach offers a more secluded feel than some of Tybee’s other beach access points. The wide shoreline, dunes, and open views create a clean, timeless backdrop that keeps the focus where it belongs—on the couple.
One of the unexpected highlights of the morning was the number of pelicans flying overhead. They seemed to appear at just the right moments, adding another layer of movement and character to the coastal landscape.
The combination of calm water, soft light, and open space made North Beach the perfect location for a sunrise engagement session.

A Relaxed Approach to Engagement Photos
One of the things I love most about sunrise sessions is how relaxed they feel. Without crowds or distractions, couples are able to slow down and enjoy the experience together.
Throughout the session, we focused on movement and interaction rather than rigid posing. Walking along the shoreline, taking in the sunrise, and simply spending time together allowed for photographs that felt natural and reflective of who they are as a couple.
The result was a gallery filled with genuine moments and a mix of both candid and classic portraits.

Ending the Session in the Water
As the morning progressed, we finished the session the same way many of my favorite beach sessions end—with a walk into the ocean.
What started as standing at the water’s edge quickly turned into getting completely soaked, and it was easily one of the most memorable parts of the morning. These unscripted moments often become some of the strongest images from a session because they’re entirely focused on the experience rather than the camera.
For couples planning engagement photos on Tybee Island, bringing a change of clothes and being open to ending in the water is always worth considering.

Whether you’re local to Savannah or planning a destination engagement session along the Georgia coast, North Beach offers a timeless setting that photographs beautifully year-round.
From the glowing sunrise and coastal views to the quiet shoreline and spontaneous moments in the water, this Tybee Island engagement session was a perfect example of why North Beach remains one of my favorite locations for engagement photos in coastal Georgia.
