Meredith & Matt’s Engagement Session around Forsyth Park in Savannah

There’s something incredibly special about photographing an engagement session around Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia. Romantic, classic, and full of quiet moments tucked in between the buzz of the city, Meredith and Matt’s session perfectly reflected who they are together.
We began their engagement session at Forsyth Park — one of Savannah’s most iconic and most visited locations. The park was lively and bustling, filled with couples, families, and visitors soaking in the day. It had been a beautiful day with clear blue skies all day long, but as we started their session, the clouds rolled in. Cloudy days can be really beautiful for sessions, but it does change how we photograph. Good thing I know how to “roll with the punches” as they say!
One thing I have started doing before each and every session, is ask my clients if I can see their inspiration boards from Pinterest to get an idea of the locations that they are drawn too. This has been a game changer in helping me pick where we want to go for the session and the types of poses/prompts that each couple is wanting. Meredith had pinned a good many spots that were close to Forsyth, including some beautiful steps, pillars, big oak trees and ivy covered walls.
Exploring Savannah, One Favorite Spot at a Time
From Forsyth Park, we took a slow walk through some of their favorite nearby locations, letting the session unfold naturally. This is one of the things I love most about Savannah engagement sessions — the ability to move seamlessly from spot to spot, discovering quiet corners and beautiful backdrops just steps away from the crowds.
We made our way toward Monterey Square, where the atmosphere softened. The square’s historic charm, mature oak trees, and calmer pace gave Meredith and Matt space to truly settle into the moment. These in-between locations often create some of the most meaningful images — unhurried, connected, and timeless.
Meredith’s effortless white dress paired beautifully with Savannah’s soft, neutral tones, while Matt’s light blue blazer felt perfectly at home against the greenery and historic surroundings. Their style was classic and elevated without feeling overdone — a reflection of the city itself.
Ending Where It All Began
We finished the session back at the fountain in Forsyth Park, and by then, everything had shifted. The crowds had thinned, the energy had quieted and you could actually see the fountain.
It felt like the park had exhaled.
Standing together in front of the stunning Forsyth Park Fountain, framed by moss-draped oaks and soft afternoon light, Meredith and Matt shared one of those moments that feels suspended in time. Hand in hand, laughing softly, completely present — it was the perfect way to close out their session.
A Forsyth Park Engagement Session to Remember
Meredith and Matt’s engagement session was a beautiful reminder that even in the busiest places, there’s room for stillness. Savannah has a way of offering both energy and intimacy, and these two embraced every part of it.
I’m so grateful I got to walk alongside them through this season — literally and figuratively. Their engagement session felt less like a photoshoot and more like a memory in the making, and those are always my favorite stories to tell.
If you’re dreaming of an engagement session that feels romantic, relaxed, and deeply personal, Savannah will always be a perfect place to begin. 🤍
